Garbage in…
Man, I love junk food. I don’t eat it all day or anything - as a matter of fact, I generally cook and eat fairly healthily. But, dammit, once a day I want a Little Debbie Swiss Roll, and God help anybody who says I shouldn’t have one!
Sorry, I haven’t had any junk food today and I’m a little cranky.
I really like chocolate. And I really, really like a nice cold Mountain Dew with my meals. After I told our trainer, Bob, this and described how painful it would be to give the sugary stuff up he informed me that I was probably addicted.
It wasn’t rude or an indictment of my character or anything. It was just a simple fact; if the thought of giving something up is painful - you’re probably addicted.
Oh, the stigma.
Bob also informed me that he was addicted to coffee, so that made me feel not quite as bad.
So, I’m embarking on a quest to cut down my Mountain Dew (and junk food in general) consumption. I’m gonna try and go from my standard 3 cans to 1 can at first; that one can most likely coming in the morning when I need it to get moving. From there I’ll toy around with the idea of giving it up completely.
My weight has never been an issue for me but I do carry a slight bulge right above my belt line that obscures what I’m sure is the most glorious set of six pack abs that God ever created. I’m hoping that little paunch is made up almost entirely of Mountain Dew. I’ll keep you updated.
